Lynne Anne (McGrath) Hutcheson, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 25, 2025, surrounded by family at Hospice of Cincinnati.
Born on August 8, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, Lynne spent most of her life in her beloved Michigan, where she truly became a Michigan girl at heart. Eight years ago, she and Don moved to Ohio, where she could often be found proudly wearing her “Just a Michigan Girl in an Ohio World” sweatshirt — a playful nod to her Michigan roots and sense of humor. She also loved her bright pink “Love You to the Moon and Back” sweatshirt. And if you were lucky enough to be loved by her — she truly meant it.
Lynne married the love of her life, Donald Ray Hutcheson, on November 15, 1969. The two met in the Dearborn Moose Ski Club, where Don was President and Lynne was Secretary — beginning a lifelong adventure together both on and off the slopes — partners and soulmates for over a half century.
Together, Lynne and Don (also known as Grandma Darlin’ and Grandpa Sugar) were the heart and foundation of their family, creating a strong, loving home rooted in warmth and togetherness. There are countless cherished memories of Christmases in Howell — snow gently falling outside, kids sledding down the hill, going for four-wheeler and snowmobile rides, presents piled high, and laughter echoing through the house — the pure, joyful sound of family and love.
Lynne loved life’s simple pleasures — a good cheeseburger and a margarita, and she would never say no to a strawberry milkshake, cherry pie, or some Lay’s potato chips. With her pink lips and rosy cheeks, she enjoyed a convertible ride and singing along to Randy Travis, George Strait, and other classic country music. She also loved a spring baseball game, watching the Detroit Tigers, and was one of Mason Baseball’s biggest fans — even when it was physically tough for her, she was there in the stands. She was a huge fan of watching NASCAR races and Hallmark movies.
She was the loving daughter of the late George and Lillian McGrath, and sister to the late Dale Flood McConnell and George McGrath. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was also the proud mother of Karen (Paul) Crews, Randy (James) Mason, Daniel (Jodie) Hutcheson, and Darcy (Kevin) Crociata, and her family was truly her everything.
Lynne’s greatest joy came from being “Grandma Darlin” to her grandchildren — Rebecca (Jeremy), Paul (Allison), Eric (Angela), David, Emilee (Alex), Ross, Drew, Farrah, Reece, Alexa, Marisa, and Hutch — and great-grandchildren Isla, Sawyer, Tristan, Aurelia, Archer, Kenneth, and Harper — along with her much-loved grand doggies, who always held a special place in her heart. Each one of her “little darlings” brought her immense happiness and pride.
Her kids and grandkids kept her busy doing what she loved most — cheering them on. Whether it was baseball, football, volleyball, lacrosse, cross country, gymnastics, wrestling, hockey, dance, band, theater, or go-cart racing, she was always there with a big smile, full of pride, supporting them every step of the way — and maybe even bragging just a little bit.
Lynne always, always, always had a big smile on her face — and a Diet Pepsi in her hand. Her warmth and zest for life made her impossible to forget. She had a gift for making everyone around her feel loved, often with a beautifully handwritten card or note in her perfect penmanship, or a big pot of spaghetti that always brought everyone together. She was also a master laundry-folder, taking pride in even the smallest details that showed how much she cared.
Lynne’s life was guided by a strong Christian faith, and she deeply loved Jesus. Her faith gave her strength, comfort, and joy, and she lived each day with gratitude, kindness, and love in her heart. Lynne and Don were long-standing members of Hidden Springs Church in Michigan and were so blessed to find a new home to worship at Socialville Baptist Church in Mason, Ohio, where they were welcomed with open arms. They have made many dear friends there and cherish the fellowship, support, and love of their church family.
As Lynne recently said, “I have had a beautiful life and people who love me. I know the Lord and know where I am going.” And as Don lovingly said to her during her final moments, “You are about to be the prettiest angel in Heaven, Lynne. Open up the pearly gates, Jesus!”
She will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, and sparkle will live on in all who knew her.
In her final days, Lynne and her family were surrounded by compassionate care and comfort from the wonderful team at Hospice of Cincinnati – Blue Ash, for which they will be forever grateful.
