In loving memory of Madison Olivia Smith. A wild soul now free.
The trees are quieter today. The rivers slow. The breeze lingers a little longer while we try to remember the shape of your laughter.
Born on April 12th 1998 Madison returned to the universe on May 25th 2025. Far too soon by our clocks but just in time for whatever wild magic comes next.
Madison didn’t just live on the Earth—she lived with it. Leaves in her hair, if you couldn’t find her, chances are a trailhead could.
And yet, for all her love of the wild world, nothing held her love more than her daughter. She was her sun and moon—her greatest joy, softest strength, and most beautiful adventure. She showed her where the mushrooms grow, how to speak to animals without words, and that love is something you do, not just something you say. In Nora, Madison lives on—in muddy footprints, flower crowns, and belly laughs that sound like freedom.
And though Madison may have left this world, she hasn’t really gone. Shes in the soil, whispering in the wind, watching over us from a tree branch with Honcho wagging his tail beside her. And most of all, she is wrapped around Nora’s heart—forever.
To honor Madison, plant something. Hug a dog. Go outside without a destination. Sit. Listen. Breathe. And live like the Earth is your oldest friend—because to her it was.
We miss you wildly.
