Marcia Steele, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Pisgah, OH on February 1, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on January 7, 1935, in Mallie, KY, Marcia's vibrant personality and beautiful smile left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Marcia’s life journey began after she graduated from the Hindman Settlement School in Hindman, KY, where she received both academic and life skills education. She fondly recalled her time participating in square dancing performances during her school years, which showcased her joyful spirit and enthusiasm for life. At the age of 18, Marcia moved to Cincinnati, OH, where she embarked on a career that included working as a key punch operator, as a bank teller, and later at an HVAC company. She took great pride in having one of the first home AC units in her area.
Marcia and Dave met in the stairwell of an apartment building where they both lived in Cincinnati. Excited to start their life together they were married October 5, 1958. They enjoyed 65 years together on this side of heaven. They are now eternally reunited.
After the birth of their son, Jeff, Marcia chose to dedicate her life to being a full-time homemaker, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. She was known for her love of family, often cheering on Jeff at his baseball games and preparing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the boys. Marcia's warmth extended to her grandchildren, whom she adored. She cherished moments spent with them at Sharon Woods, a trip to Disney World, and proudly supported them at their athletic events.
Marcia and her late husband, Davis Steele, shared a passion for travel, with Hawaii being a highlight of their adventures together. She eagerly looked forward to the annual Combs family reunion.
Marcia is survived by her son Jeff (Kendal) Steele, her grandchildren Christian (Breanne) Steele and Kaelyn (Drew) Gilmour, as well as her great-grandchildren Grayson Gilmour, Charlotte Steele, and Kash Steele. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Preceding her in death are her husband Davis Steele, her parents Monroe and Millie (Amburgey) Combs, and her siblings: Margie Gibson, Manford Combs, Mancis Combs, Marlin Combs, Mattie Banks, Mabel Combs, Margarette Bentley, Millard Combs, Maudie Caskey, Maxie Blythe, Moses Combs, Mary Banks, Mavis Bentley, Marcus Combs, and Merrill (Jack) Combs.
Marcia Steele will be remembered for her infectious laughter, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know her.
