Margaret Helen "Marge" (Dadosky) Krause, 86, of Lexington, KY, passed away at Westover Retirement Community in Hamilton, OH on June 2, 2026 after a year-long battle with bladder cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert (Bob) Lawrence Krause.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Christine Krause (partner John Lum), of Tampa, FL; her son, Brian Daniel Krause (wife Jennifer), of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Maya Danielle Krause, Ava Claire Krause, Theodore David Lum, and Nathaniel Robert Lum; her sister Annette Marie (Dadosky) Russell of Indianapolis, IN and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Born in Portsmouth, Ohio in 1939 to William Edward "Duck" and Margaret Mary (Frantz) Dadosky, Marge was the youngest of eight children. Her seven older siblings were Joan Martha, William Edward “Bill,” James Frantz “Jim,” Dolores Jean, Mary Sue, Franklin Joseph “Bruz,” and Annette Marie.
Upon graduation from high school in 1957, Marge entered the convent, joining the Sisters of St. Francis in Rochester, Minnesota. As a member of the order, she was afforded the opportunity to study at the College of St. Teresa in Winona, where she earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1963 and subsequently began teaching high school chemistry, science, and mathematics. Soon thereafter, she was selected to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Notre Dame, where she studied each summer until completing her degree in 1967. During these summers, she developed a deep love for Notre Dame that would be a defining part of her personality for the rest of her life. After leaving the convent in 1968, she went on to marry Bob and raise a family, also working for a number of years as a chemistry teacher at both the high school and college levels.
Throughout her life, Marge was passionate about sports and enjoyed not only watching her favorite teams but also playing sports whenever she had the chance—including her first game of pickleball in January! In recent years, she was captivated by exercise and took great pleasure in demonstrating a favorite yoga pose or Station-2-Station exercise for friends and family. She was a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan and followed University of Kentucky athletics, but it was Notre Dame sports that truly held her heart, particularly football and women’s basketball. She never missed a televised game and could be counted on to root as loudly and enthusiastically as any fan in attendance.
In addition to her devotion to the Fighting Irish, Marge was a card lover and delighted in playing euchre and socializing with her dear friends at the Lexington Senior Center. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren and took great joy in celebrating their many accomplishments. She also had a lifelong appreciation for poetry and could be counted on to write a verse for any special occasion. Now that Marge is at rest, we can easily picture her looking back at us with a smile, waving goodbye, and reminding us:
“Gently rise and softly call: Good night and joy be to you all.”
Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd., West Chester, Ohio 45069 on Monday, June 8th from 11am to 12:30pm. The service will immediately follow at the chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249.
Donations in Marge's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to two of her favorite charities: Habitat for Humanity and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
