Marge, Margie, Mom, Grandma Margie, GiGi was born in Cleveland to Vincent and Hilda McCoy. She was the youngest and only girl so she was the princess of the family. She moved with her family to Cincinnati where she met her husband Ray while working at GE Aircraft Engines as a technical secretary. They had a beautiful, loving marriage for 46 years until Ray passed away in 2004. Although they were diehard Cincinnatians they travelled the country with and without their kids and the world without their kids later in life. They camped in 47 of the 50 states along the way, only missing Hawaii, Alaska and Michigan. Although she lost the love of her life way too early, she has thrived since then because of her family, her church family and her innate ability to make friends, along with her many interests that have kept her going ever since. She was a founding member of Barts Bards and produced and acted in many productions over the years. She also was a long-term and devout member of St. Barts Church and was a choir member most of her adult life. She also became very involved in other artistic areas and became a prolific producer of stained-glass artworks as well as being a member of the Cincinnati Dulcimer Society where she played both the dulcimer and the autoharp. The last 10 years of her life were spent at Twin Towers where she made many new friends and had fun playing dominoes and enjoying outings with her new friend group. She had an electric spirit and touched many lives over the years. Margery passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 5 at the age of 92. She leaves behind her children Scott (Diane) Sowell, Steve (Annie) Sowell, Cheri (Frank) Ribaudo, and Alisa (Ray Kues) Lambert. Loving grandmother of Eric (Stormi) Sowell, Sarah Sowell, Hannah (Michael) Piscitelli, Sean (Arielle Vakni) Sowell, Emily (Scott) Asher, Claire (Brad) Ballinger, Nick (Taylor) Ribaudo, Jeff (Maika) Ribaudo, Grant Holtmeier, and Madison Lambert. Loving great-grandmother of Kylie Sowell; Oliver Piscitelli; Kenzie and Mallory Asher; Libby, Colette and Natalie Ballinger; and Giovanni Ribaudo.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at St. Bartholomew Church 9375 Winton Road, 45231 from 10:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, including the rosary at 10:30. Interment will follow Gate of Heaven cemetery. For full obituary – see hodappfuneralhome.com
