Marjorie Frances Mitchell was born October 4th, 1938 in Duluth, MN, and was a sunny and accomplished child. She played the piano, and excelled in any academics she tackled. She was the oldest daughter of the late George and Cecilia Mitchell, who both died in June 1958 when Mom was 19, leaving her to raise her four younger sisters, while finishing her degree at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. She married Richard in July of 1961, and shortly afterwards, the newlyweds and the Mitchell sisters moved to St. Louis.

She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Richard, two sons (Jim and Tony), four grandchildren (Dylan, Paige, Lily and Kai), and four sisters (Nora Orschel, Mary Tebeau, Elizabeth Dostie and Cecile Mitchell-McNeel). 

Marjorie taught English in St. Louis for a few years, starting in 1963 at St. Peter Catholic School, and later at Villa Duchesne High School. The couple adopted two boys: their first son, Jim, and Tony a few years later. They lived there for twenty three years, launching her sisters in to successful lives and careers, coupled with the new adventure of raising boys.

She moved with Richard and the boys to Cincinnati in 1985, and few years later began working as a secretary at Reynolds, DeWitt & Co. investment firm, soaking up information about the world of finance and money. She was a fast learner, moving on to join IDS/American Express, eventually becoming a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Consultant, while growing a thriving practice, considered one of the best in the Cincinnati area. Her pride in her work was evident to family and those who worked with her, and she voiced immense pride in helping clients navigate the financial world and plan for their future, help she wished she would have had when younger. She took great pleasure in being Nana to Dylan, Paige, Lily and Kai, doting on them, doing overnights, and of course working in the benefits of annuities and a robust cash reserve.

Mom eventually dealt with the inevitable older age health challenges, with Dementia simmering underneath; slowly the force of nature everyone knew started to disappear. She will be remembered by those who knew her as a passionate teacher and guide through her financial planning career, a loyal friend, and a fierce advocate for and protector of family.
