Martha N. Koch

September 24, 1943 — April 28, 2025

Martha N. Koch, a beloved matriarch and devoted medical technologist, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew her. Born on September 24, 1943 in Covington, Kentucky, Martha's life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to her family, community, and profession.

For thirty-five years, Martha served as a medical technologist at TriHealth in the Cincinnati area, embodying both skill and compassion in her work. Yet, alongside her professional accomplishments, it was her role as a mother that brought her the greatest joy. Martha was fiercely devoted to her sons, Christopher N. Koch and Michael J. Koch, never missing a game or event, always there as a pillar of support for her family. Her pride in their achievements was profound; Martha was a quiet anchor, celebrating their successes without seeking the spotlight for herself.

Martha’s passions extended beyond her career and motherhood. She had a deep affinity for her flower gardens, where she found peace and beauty. Friends and family alike looked forward to the delightful cookie platters she prepared around Christmas time, a testament to her culinary talents and a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Known for her warmth and sociability, Martha loved being surrounded by people. Whether through volunteering at her church or actively participating in school events, she devoted her time to enriching the lives of those in her community. Her role as a volunteer, teacher, cook, and choir member not only showcased her diverse talents but also her heartfelt commitment to service.

Having grown up as Martha Nieberding, she cherished numerous family ties formed throughout her life. She shared a close bond with her siblings, including her sister, Margaret N. Sohmer, and her brother, Paul H. Nieberding, and often recalled fond memories shared with her late relatives, including her husband, Jack N. Koch, and her parents, Herman H. and Ruth B. Nieberding, as well as her late siblings, James R. Nieberding and Mary Ruth Gaskill. Jack, her beloved husband, played a vital role in her life, and their love was evident in every aspect of her being. Together, they built a family that remained the center of Martha’s universe.

Martha was also adored by her six grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her laughter, wisdom, and steadfast love. To them, she was more than a grandmother; she was a friend, a confidante, always ready to share in their joys and provide guidance when needed.

In her leisure, Martha enjoyed sewing and knitting, pursuits that showcased her creativity and dedication to crafting warmth not just in fabric, but within the hearts of those around her. An affinity for dressing up for a meal out and enjoying fine chocolates highlighted her zest for life's simple pleasures.

Martha’s loving and loyal nature was a beacon of hope for many; her family and friends will forever remember her as a devoted member of the church, a spirited volunteer, and a woman who showed up, no matter the situation, with unwavering support.

As we mourn her passing, we celebrate the beautiful soul that Martha was, recognizing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, dedication, and service endures, imprinted in the hearts of her family and friends.
