Mary Louise Morrison

March 9, 1936 — June 15, 2026

Cincinnati

Mary Louise (Gerwe) Morrison, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.

Born on March 9, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Hazel M. (Hollerman) Gerwe and Daniel J. Gerwe.

Mary graduated from the School of the Brown County Ursulines in 1954 and earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1958. While attending the university, she was a proud member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and cherished the lifelong enduring friendship with her sorority sister, Judy D'Amico.

Mary enjoyed a distinguished career as a technical designer of electronic systems with GE Aerospace (formerly General Electric) and later with Textron Systems, successor to AVCO. At a time when engineering and technical fields were overwhelmingly dominated by men, Mary earned the respect of her colleagues through her intelligence, skill, dedication, and professionalism. Her accomplishments served as an example of perseverance and excellence in a pioneering era for women in technology.

Mary was the devoted wife of the late Stuart M. Morrison, with whom she shared many years of love and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart; her stepdaughter, Heather (Robert) Dillard; and her stepson, Stuart Morrison, Jr.

Mary is survived by her stepdaughter, Anne (Steve) Maier, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her much joy throughout her life.

She is also lovingly remembered by her cousins: Michele (Rick) Goldman, Glen (Linda) Niemeier, Mark Niemeier, Paul (Susan) Niemeier, Tim (Lynda) Niemeier, Nancy (Jeff) Stefani, Mary Ann Nicholson (the late Robert Nicholson), and Thomas (Lynn) Schultz.

A lifelong dog lover, Mary found great companionship and happiness in the dogs she cared for throughout her life. She was deeply devoted to her family and steadfast in her Catholic faith, both of which guided her life and sustained her through its joys and challenges. Her kindness, strength, intelligence, and unwavering values left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Mary will be remembered for her warmth, grace, and quiet determination. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the many cherished memories she leaves behind and in the example of a life well lived.

May she rest in the peace of Christ.

Visitation will be held on June 25, 2026, from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1443 Cedar Avenue, Cincinnati, 45224.

Memorials may be made to St. Clare Church.
