Maxine Day

Maxine Day (nee Crawford), 88, of Mt. Healthy, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023 after a long-fought battle with dementia at Mercy Fairfield Hospital surrounded by her loving family.   She was born September 14, 1934 in Lewis County, KY, daughter of the late Connell and Cora (Stamm) Crawford.  Loving Mother of Patty (Ray) Brown and Susan (Ron) Fox.  Caring grandmother of Brian (Stephanie) Brown, Kelly Brown (Jenny Kaseman), Tracy Brown (Nick Lamb), Jacob Fox, Jessy Fox (Jeff Brogan) and her special needs grandson Joshua Fox who was precious and dear to her heart.  Also survived by 6 great-grandchildren Lainey, Morgan, Ridley and Case Brown, Aiden and Ashlynn Stacy.  Sister of Leffel (Lee) Crawford and a special nephew Chester “Junior” Crawford.  Preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Day, and her 9 siblings, Norman, Jessie, Chester, Mary, Jean, John, Elsie, Ruth and Carol. 

As a dedicated single mother, Maxine with limited resources always focused on providing for her small family by working hard in the restaurant business.  She managed The Iron Horse Inn Restaurant in Glendale, OH and retired from Manor Catering at the P&G Learning Center in Cincinnati, OH.

Maxine loved to square dance and formed many special friendships over the 50+ years she danced in the square dance community. She wants her dear friends and loved ones to know that she is finally “Promenading Home” to embrace her beautiful daughter Sharon again.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Greenhills, 11195 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45218 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
