Michael Anderson

October 1, 1978 — April 16, 2026

Michael Anderson, a beloved son, brother, nephew, and cousin, passed away on April 16, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on October 1, 1978, Michael faced the challenges of muscular dystrophy with a quiet strength and a smile that reflected the depth of his spirit and resilience.

A graduate of Kings High School in 1997, Michael was known among friends and family not only for his perseverance but also for his musical talents. During his high school years, he played in the Kings drumline, a testament to his dedication and love of rhythm and music. Those who knew him well remember his passion for creating the perfect all-American music setlist for the family’s Fourth of July celebrations — never missing the opportunity to include Neil Diamond's iconic "America," a tune that became a cherished tradition.

Michael’s childhood was filled with joyful memories, such as playing on a recreational baseball team where his Uncle Charlie – the coach – lovingly carried him to first base whenever he got a hit. Summers were marked by spirited whiffle ball games at his grandparents’ house, where he shared laughter and competition with siblings and cousins. A devoted fan of Cincinnati sports teams, Michael was an avid supporter of the Cincinnati Bearcats basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and Cincinnati Bengals football—a true hometown enthusiast.

Despite the physical limitations imposed by his condition, Michael embraced life’s simple pleasures and found joy in the company of family. He loved spending time with his siblings Scott and Julie Anderson, Steve and Rachel Anderson, and Kristy and Rob Goedde, as well as cherishing moments with his many nieces and nephews—Jamie and David Whitman, Haleigh and Austen Funke, Ashleigh Anderson and Nicholas Phillips, Brady and Grace Anderson, Logan and Carmen Anderson, Parker Anderson, Leiah Goedde, Makenna Anderson—and his six great nieces and nephews, who brought light to his days. Family vacations often included trips to the beach, where he enjoyed the outdoors despite being in his wheelchair, surrounded by loved ones.

Michael's faith was a quiet yet powerful presence in his life, offering strength and assurance without fanfare. Those who knew him admired his ability to find laughter and connection even in the face of hardship. His legacy is one of courage, love, and the enduring bonds of family and community.

He was born and passed away in Cincinnati, Ohio, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly—David Anderson, his father, survives him; his mother, Mary Anderson, preceded him in death. Michael Anderson’s life was a testament to the impact of quiet courage, unwavering love, and the joy found in shared moments with those closest to him. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who had the privilege to know him.
