Michael “Mike” Enright, a proud Army veteran, lifelong public servant, devoted son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on August 1, 1950, Mike was a graduate of Hartley High School and the University of Dayton. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army. After his military service, he dedicated his civilian life to the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio, where he worked with diligence and integrity for many years.
Mike was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, always cheering passionately for their victories and standing by them through every season. His love for the Buckeyes was matched only by his affection for the timeless Peanuts cartoon and a winning pull on a slot machine.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Anne Enright, brother Tom Enright, sister Sheila Messersmith, and close cousin Greg Mallory.
He was a steady, caring presence in the lives of his nieces and nephews Jennifer Messersmith, Matthew Messersmith, Bryan Messersmith, and Melissa Messersmith. Mike is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Enright, brother-in-law Tom Messersmith, and cousins Debbie Callero, Pam Mallory, Cindy Mallory-Heuer, and Art Mallory who grew up across the street. He leaves behind many other loving cousins, relatives, and friends (especially those in Dayton, Iowa and Kansas) who will miss him.
All are welcome to attend Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Church (2777 E. Livingston Ave) in Columbus, Ohio. A celebration of Mike’s life will follow at The Berwick (3250 Refugee Rd, Columbus, OH 43232). Date and Time will be announced soon. Please check back for updates.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mike’s memory to the James Cancer Hospital or your favorite charity.
