Michael Douglas Gehler

March 12, 1957 — January 9, 2024

Michael, who many called Mike, was the son of Harry and Marlene Gehler, born on March 12, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports, especially baseball. After high school, Mike studied at Ohio University before starting his own landscaping business. Mike built and grew his business into a successful company, Gehler Grounds Care, which provided for his young family and employment to many friends.

Mike was a proud father to six children, Kristine (Randy), Michael (Nikki), Michelle, Savannah, Hudson and Ellie. Mike also had seven grandchildren, Autumn, Tomorrow, MaryJane, Iris, Rainbow, Eden and Michael Jr. He is survived by his beloved Mother, Marlene, with whom he was very close, and his sister Debbie (the late Paul) who was like a second mom to all of his children. Mike is also survived by his sister Terri (Matt) along with his nephew Ryan and niece Danielle, his brother David (Meg), and nephews Evan, Eric & James. He joins his dad, Harry, in heaven, his brother-in-law Paul, his friend Jerry and many others he loved.

Aside from his love of watching all sports, Mike found a passion in playing racquetball and acquired a collection of trophies from the tournaments he played in. Mike loved to be at the beach or on the water; he enjoyed taking his children boating at Lake Cumberland, or on road trips to the ocean. Everyone who knew Mike knew how much he loved the Blues. Whether he was humming or singing the tunes to you, or it was playing, music was always a passion he shared with those who had the pleasure of his company.

Mike will be remembered by his family for his philosophical chats, his business and life advice, and his big bear hugs. He always had a sense of humor, cracking jokes at every opportunity, making silly faces and voices. Mike had a great ability to make others smile and his goofiness will surely be missed. Mike had a big heart, was generous and would give anything he could to help someone in need. Mike's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
