Beloved husband for 56 years of Evelyn Collins (nee McCloskey). Loving father of Tracy (Howard) Hughes, Gary (Linda) Collins, Mary (Robert) Johnson. Dear grandfather and sports fan of Howie, Henry, Harry, Molly, Josie, Betsy, and Mattie.
Sam graduated from Elder high school in 1952 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University. He spent time in the Air National Guard on active duty in West Germany in the early 60s.
Sam was an avid sports fan, (he is known to have missed school and work for Reds’ Opening Day) but his favorite players to watch were his own children and grandchildren.
Passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 86 years of age.
Visitation at St. Dominic 4551 Delhi Pike on Tuesday from 9 AM until time of Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM.
