Nicole Marie (nee Horsley) Patterson, age 39 passed away on August 17, 2025, while enjoying a quick trip away with her beloved husband of five years, Jarod Patterson. A cabin in the mountains of Tennessee was a change of pace from their daily lives of residing in Ashland, Kentucky alongside their cat Tiger. Nicole was affectionately known as “Pinky” by many in her community, with Jarod lovingly calling her “Pinks” (PNX). Her journey in this life was both a painful confusing struggle, and a triumph. She was a strong woman, an overcomer; and she used her pain and experiences to help others. Nicole was accepting of others differences and non-judgmental. She grew through her own recovery process, living one day at a time, and giving back through working with clients suffering from the illnesses of mental health and/or addiction. She positively touched many lives through the work she did at Mended Reeds, volunteer work and leading 12 step groups. She obtained an Associate Degree in Human Services Technology and obtained an LCDCII (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor certification). At heart Nicole was a talented artist, with the God given gift being revealed in childhood. Her pieces of art were displayed at school exhibits; her design for the junior high year book was chosen in a competition for the cover; and her last two years of high school were focused on digital design. Her talent has brought joy to others through a broad span of paintings, jewelry, ceramics, designs, sketches and murals, and she had recently begun selling her artwork through her business, PNX Studio.
In addition to being Jarod’s wife, Nicole was (and remains) the beloved: daughter of Vicki Horsley; sister and birth mother of Adrian Horsley; sister of Grant Horsley (Jessica) and aunt of Nolan Horsley; niece of Terri and Mark Zentgraf; daughter-in- law of Candace Carey; daughter-in-law of Keith Patterson; sister-in-law of Sarah Patterson Mormon (Mike) and aunt of Hobie Mormon. Nicole is also survived by cousins, extended relatives, and friends.
Nicole was predeceased by her beloved grandma, Geraldine (Gerry) Reuther; grandpa, John (Jack) Reuther; and great-grandpa, John H. Reuther.
Nicole lived by the family motto her mother instilled in them, and recently had a tattoo placed on her left arm as a constant reminder to “Never Give Up”.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Church of the Saviour United Methodist, 8005 Pfeiffer Rd., Montgomery, OH 45242 from 2:00 PM until Funeral Service at 4:00 PM.
