Norbert Sylvester Riley, Jr. age 95, loving known as The Nork, passed away November 10, 2022. Growing up in Reading, Ohio he enjoyed time with his sisters Shirley, Cedora and brother Vincent. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served in WWII and later joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He graduated from University of Cincinnati, attended the Cincinnati College Conservatory of music and had a 38 year career at Proctor & Gamble’s Ivorydale facility. Norb was an accomplished musician, playing the trumpet, guitar and piano, performing in both a big band and jazz band. He so loved to dance and sometimes before you knew it, he would already have your arm and you were spinning around kicking your heels up. Other interests were hunting, known as Old One Shot, fishing up at Lake Erie, bowling, playing cards and was a charter member at Miami View Golf Course in Cincinnati. He enjoyed telling stories about his hunting trips, golfing scores along with several hole in ones and his military service. He always had a joke or a toast ready to tell and an Irish jig for the audience once the punchline was delivered. He had six beautiful children with his first wife Blanche (nee Rosselot) Anne (Michael) Frick, Daniel (Cheri), Jim (Sue), John (Debbie), Jeff (Cyndi). Grandfather of 15 and Great Grandfather of 15. Preceded in death by son Michael (Sharon) and wife, Mary Jo (nee Hoffman). Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00-11:15 on Friday November 18th at St. Susanna Church, Mason Ohio with mass to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in memory of Norbert, The Nork, Riley to Queen City Hospice.
