Patrick Cyril Joseph Mechley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed from this life to eternal life on August 11, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, faith, service, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife, Cornelia Mechley, his children Tammy Schulz(Ronald II), Christina Turner(Richard), Cynthia Siebenburgen(Bryan) and Christopher Haffey, stepchildren Geoffrey Abel, Rebecca Abel-Kennedy(Adam Kennedy) and Mark Abel(Kathleen Williams), Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren Ronald Schulz III(Lauren) Madison(Jon), Rylee and Ronald IV; Randall Schulz I(Kristen), Regina and Randall II; Samantha Platt(Alex), Nicole Crooks(Braylin) Jaeden, Alaia, and Ace, Richie Turner; Blake Siebenburgen(Morgan) Wednesday, Savannah Lester(Bryan) Porter and Parker; Emily Abel-Rutter and Converse Kennedy; Charlotte and Willow Abel. Survived by siblings Braden, Daniel(Joan), Theodore(Barbara), Norbert(Holly), Rose Marie Virok, Teri Hoehn(Richard) and sister-in-law Beverly. Predeceased by parents Albert and Alberta and siblings Albert, Geraldine Ehrhart, Victor, Barbara, Paul, and in-laws Margot, Harold Ehrhart, Eileen and Alex Virok. Pat is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Born on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944, Pat attended elementary school in Westwood at St. Catharine of Siena School and attended St. Xavier High School. Pat lived his life guided by his Catholic Faith and his love of family. Pat loved spending time with his cherished partner Nealy. The Catholic Church was at the center of their lives, they prayed together and attended daily Mass. He and Nealy felt called to, "serve the servants of God." Pat was an amazing father. He loved his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his eyes lit up whenever he spoke about them. Over the years, he and Nealy were steadfast in attending family events. He was an incredibly selfless and gentle person and everyone loved to be around him.

Pat was a Master Plumber and a Construction Project Manager. He could do anything with his hands. He offered his gifts and talents freely. He was always the one to lend a hand if his family or a stranger needed help. He truly lived his life in service to others, feeling called to serve the economically and spiritually poor. Although a devout Catholic, Pat would help anyone regardless of denomination. During the Ethiopian famine he travelled to Africa and brought supplies to doctors. Some of the numerous projects he worked on and/or spearheaded were: Dorothy Day's St. Joseph Soup Kitchen and Homeless Housing, Tender Mercies, Five Mile Ministry, Jack Tow-Over the Rhine Housing Soup Kitchen and Shelter for the Homeless, Tom Geiger House for Battered Women and Children, Romanian Refugees, St. Peter Claver School, Chapel for Presentation Ministries in Adams County, Garden Street Returning Prisoners Halfway House, Our Lady of Light- assisting to renovate the former bishop's home, St. Joseph's Carpenter Shop, setting up the creche on Fountain Square downtown for many years. Pat was instrumental in rehabbing Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, when Fr. Leroy Smith asked him to come on board to make it operational as a retreat center. When he started working at OLHSC the building was dilapidated and in an unsafe condition. He tirelessly worked, fundraised, recruited volunteers and was vital in the beginning of Perpetual Adoration at OLHSC. The ripples of his indefatigable spirit in the OLHSC's early days are reflected in the beautiful condition it appears in today.

In all that he did, he knew all the Glory belonged to God.

A memorial visitation will take place at St. Gertrude Church 6543 Miami Ave., Madeira, on Monday August 17th from 8:30AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM.
