Our loving mother was born March 28, 1933 in Martinsville, Indiana and died peacefully in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 22, 2025 after spending 30 years in her cherished state of Florida. Pat was preceded in death by her beloved partner, Marge Citrola, her faithful dog, Sunny, her parents, Ernest and Beryl Stiles Ayers; her brothers, Richard and Jay (Linda) Ayers; her granddaughter, Mary West. She is survived by her children, Paula West and Bradley West (Julie). Her grandchildren, Chad (Jill) West; Cody (Quinn) West; Lee West; Ashley (Eric) Crosh; Darwin Kouns, Jr.; Ally (Ryan) Norris. Her great grandchildren, Landen, Eva, Emma, Louis, Teddy, Margot West; Camden, Amelia, Lincoln Crosh; Iris Norris. Her great great grandson Cairo West-Pate.
“Airie”, as she is affectionately known by friends, spent a life where laughter was always the goal and spending time with family and friends was her favorite pastime (especially if it was in a warm place). She loved her Unity Church homes in Melbourne and most recently at Unity of Garden Park in Cincinnati. Airie was an animal lover and had many fur babies thru the years including a draft horse named Dan. In recent times her favorite activity was watching Caitlin Clark play basketball for the Indiana Fever. She loved music. She sang often, played the clarinet and French horn and enjoyed attending the Cincinnati Symphony concerts as well as many, many music performances in Melbourne, Florida. She was enthusiastic about exercise and walking Sunny.
Airie was a postal employee including being one of the first female letter carriers in Cincinnati and was a Postmaster at Sunman, Indiana. She was notorious for wanting to start new ventures. She lived several years in a log cabin that she helped to build on acreage near Brookville, Indiana which she heated entirely by wood that she cut. While in Florida she was part of “The Group” which is a close- knit group of friends that she cherished and were loyal and faithful to her to the end. She loved tinkering around her house and yard and was very conscious about the environment. Airie knew how to make a dollar last and enjoyed life on a minimal budget. Her love of ice cream was known by all. Our beloved mother will be greatly missed for being able to light up a room in the most subtle way. Rest in peace God’s kind and faithful warrior.
