Perry Pickering

Perry David Pickering Sr., age 79, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Perry was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his children David Pickering, Ginger Vogelgesang, and Jeffrey Pickering. He was the loving grandfather of Nicholas Vogelgesang, Tiffany Gibbs (Kyle Gibbs), and Tammy Vogelgesang, and proud great-grandfather of Paisley Vogelgesang.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Stella (Carl, deceased) Dooley, Darlene Smith, and Beejay Draffen; and his brother-in-law, Steven Hannah. Perry is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Pickering (Hannah); his sister, Nancy Collins (Pickering); his sister-in-law, Bonita Hannah (Danny Garrett); and his brother-in-law, Ray Hannah Jr.

Perry lived life with a strong sense of family, a quiet strength, and a passion for the things he loved. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and cheering on his favorite sports teams — the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Cyclones. He also found joy in the excitement of gambling and the thrill of a day at the horse races—pastimes that brought him fun, stories, and friendships over the years.

Known for his kind heart and dependable spirit, Perry left a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication that will live on in the memories of his family and friends.

A memorial service to honor Perry’s life will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd., West Chester, OH 45069, on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 12 Noon until time of Remembrances at 1:30 PM..

Perry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
