Rick lived life with more lives than a cat, marked by quick wit, sharp humor, and an aggressive charm that filled every room he entered. He will be remembered most for his huge heart, living life on the edge, and his deep desire to always be near his family.
From an early age, he showed a natural curiosity for how things worked. He was always tinkering—taking things apart just to see how they were built and how they could be put back together (not always a success). That curiosity followed him through life, from motorcycles and cars to radios, speakers, boomboxes, and just about anything mechanical or electrical he could get his hands on. Even later in life, that same spirit showed through in the way he worked to understand and modify his scooter chair, never losing that drive to make things his own.
He carried a fighting spirit throughout his life—not defined by one single moment, but by the way he faced challenges head-on and kept pushing forward no matter what came his way. That same determination was matched only by his humor, his stubbornness, and his deep loyalty to the people he loved.
He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and proud furbaby dad, and those roles were at the center of who he was. More than anything, Rick valued family. Being around the people he loved and staying connected to them was always a priority. He was intentional about picking up the phone, checking in, and making sure family knew they were on his mind. Whether it was a quick call or a conversation that lasted much longer than expected, those talks were a constant thread that kept the family connected. You never quite knew where a conversation with Rick would lead—there might be laughter, stories, opinions, memories, or plans for the future—but they were always unmistakably Rick. Those calls, his voice, and the connection he worked so hard to maintain will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rick was never selfish with his time, his help, or his love. If someone needed him, he did what he could to be there. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, and many will remember seeing him riding through Logan on his scooter chair with music playing from one of his beloved radios, speakers, or boomboxes—a familiar sight and sound that brought a smile to those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Carl Dooley; his life partner, Linda Cain, his grandparents Margaret and Ray Hannah; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who welcomed him home.
He is survived by his loving mother, Stella Dooley; his brothers Jim (Jaylene), Mike (Natalia), Rob (Denise), Ryan (Debbie), Brayden (Vicki), Randall (Angie), Carey, Darren (Jennifer), and Derek (Heather); and his sisters Lannette (Danny), Laura (Tom), and LeAnne (Gary), along with a large extended family who will carry his memory forward.
He will be remembered for his humor, his mechanical and electrical mind, his fighting spirit, his deep love of family, and the way he always found his way back to the people he loved most.
Following the service, all are welcome to gather with the family at the house to share stories, memories, and laughter in honor of Rick—a man who never met a stranger and whose stories will live on through those who knew and loved him.
