Richard Gary Ritter, known to many as Rick, born May 16, 1979, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Cincinnati, OH., at the age of 47.

Rick will be remembered as a strong-willed, giving, and caring man, whose sense of humor brightened the lives of those around him. He was the life of the party and enjoyed making others laugh. He was someone who never knew a stranger, able to make friends wherever he went. Rick had a song in his heart and a guitar in his hands for most of his life. Whether strumming an acoustic tune by a bonfire or losing himself in the electric riffs of Metallica, Rick found peace and self-expression through music.

Rick loved tinkering and found satisfaction in fixing, building, and keeping things running. He was passionate about his woodworking and crafted beautiful things for his family. Rick built a life marked by hard work and dedication. That steady practical nature shaped much of his life, including his career in lawn care, where he proudly managed his own business. His dedication to his work reflected the same reliability and perseverance that his family and friends knew so well.

Rick's life was marked by devotion to others, a generous spirit, and hard work that never stopped. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and warm memories that will be carried forward by all who knew him. A big guy with an even bigger heart.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Carlene Ritter and mother-in-law, Teresa Harris. He is survived by his beloved wife, Heather and son, Leland. He is also lovingly remembered by his father, Michael (Kimberly) Ritter; his father-in-law, Charles Harris, Jr.; his brother, Matthew (Jennifer) Ritter; his sisters, Michelle Ritter and Rebecca (Gary) Fomich; his brother-in-laws, Charles (Mikhayla) Harris, III and Eric (Rachel) Harris; his sister-in-law, Casandra (Travis) McClain; as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

A Memorial Gathering will take place at the Hodapp Funeral Home 7401 Vine St., Carthage, Friday, October 9th from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
