Richard John Staud

Richard John Staud of West Chester (formerly Western Hills) passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in Liberty Township, Ohio. He had recently celebrated his 88th birthday, surrounded by the family he cherished.

Born in 1937, Rich lived a life grounded in faith, hard work, and love. He was son of the late Carl and Dorothy, beloved brother of Joan, Ron, Virginia, and Carlene.

Rich married the love of his life, Marguerite, on June 10, 1961, and together they shared 64 years of marriage, building a family legacy that will live on for generations.

Rich is survived by his beloved wife Marguerite, their two daughters—Kim, partnered with Paul, and Olivia, married to Kenny. He was a proud grandfather to Kim’s sons: Joshua and Andrew; and to Olivia’s children: Brittni, Sean, Logan, Graham, and step-grandchildren Kaylee and Alex. Rich’s legacy also lives on through his eight great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy in his later years.

Rich served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 as an Aircraft Structural Mechanic. He was stationed at NAAS Brown Field in Chula Vista, California, and served aboard the USS ShangriLa from 1956 to 1957. Following his military service, he proudly worked for 40 years at the Ford Motor Company, completing the UAW-Ford Joint Apprentice Program and building a successful career in machine repair before retiring in 1999.

Whether braving rain or shine to cheer on his grandchildren at sports games, attending their theater performances, or getting on the floor to play with his great-grandkids, Rich was always a steady presence, deeply proud to support the talents and passions of his family.

Rich brought a little magic to every holiday season. One of his favorite traditions was arranging a surprise visit from Santa, who’d appear at the door with a ringing bell and gifts for the kids. It was his way of keeping wonder and joy alive for the whole family.

As a true handyman, Rich was always there to help his daughters with their projects—whether it was renovating a home, fixing something that was broken, or building something special. He never hesitated to share his time, skills, and love, always willing to lend a hand without expecting anything in return.

Rich was also a man of deep faith and a devout Catholic. He was a longtime member of St. Martin of Tours in Cheviot followed by St. Susanna Catholic Church in Mason, where he attended Mass weekly and lived by the values of compassion, humility, and service.

In his free time, Rich enjoyed golfing, bowling, taking walks, camping, and simply being with the people he loved most. He cherished every moment with family and friends and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on July 25, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the vestibule of St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Rd in Mason, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in his memory. Richard John Staud will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
