Robert P. Anderson

June 18, 1946 — June 15, 2024

Robert P. (Bob) Anderson passed away Saturday June 15, 2024, surrounded by family after a long-fought battle with cancer. Born June 18, 1946, to Elmer & Edith (Purnell) Anderson in Youngstown, Ohio, Bob grew up in Canfield, Ohio and graduated from Canfield High School with the class of 1964.

Bob earned a bachelor’s in business administration from Kent State University, serving as an officer for the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and with the ROTC as a distinguished military student. Bob was commissioned in 1968 by the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He married his high school sweetheart, Terri (Ortega) Anderson in 1968 and celebrated 55 years of marriage last summer surrounded by all his children & grandchildren during an unforgettable trip to their favorite destination on the Carolina shores of Kiawah Island.

Bob’s service to country was one of his proudest accomplishments as a true American patriot. He served the 4th battalion 25th Infantry Division as a medical battalion leader from 1970-1971 in Vietnam and Cambodia, earning the combat medic badge, two bronze stars, one for valor, and achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Following his tour of duty, Bob worked for the family business, Anderson Suburban Delivery, in Youngstown until 1976 before relocating to Cincinnati. He enjoyed a successful career in logistics for Halls Motor Transit, Suburban Oil, co-founded Veteran Cartage and retired from Veteran Enterprises.

As a man of faith, Bob enjoyed serving his beloved church, Crestview Presbyterian, where he served as a Deacon and an active member of the building and grounds committee, taking great pride in the outdoor beautification of Crestview. Bob was a member of Masonic Lodge #481 of Youngstown, Ohio and the Scottish Rite of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Bob was adored by all who knew him, his friends became family, and he was not one to know a stranger. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his loving children and grandchildren who each cherished their “Papa”.
