Robert graduated from Greenhill's High School and soon after answered the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Marines from June 1969 until June 1973, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his honorable service, he was awarded two Good Conduct Medals, recognizing his exemplary commitment and discipline. His military service was one of his proudest accomplishments throughout his life.
Following his service, Robert embarked on a career with Marriott in West Chester, where he worked diligently until his retirement. Known as a homebody with a gentle and reserved personality, Robert preferred the quiet comforts of home and the serene beauty of the night sky to the bustling noise of social gatherings.
Among his cherished hobbies were reading, astronomy, and coin collecting, interests that reflected his thoughtful nature and curiosity about the world and beyond. He was known for his love of stargazing, often spending evenings under the vast expanse of the night sky. His favorite saying, “I have lived my life far too long under the stars to be afraid of the dark,” eloquently captured his enduring spirit and reflective outlook on life.
Robert was deeply proud of his family. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Michelle Kleinmann, his son-in-law Mike Kleinmann, and grandchildren Madisen and Wyatt Kleinmann. He also leaves behind his sisters, Dee Iverson and Mary Tallman. He had a profound love and pride for them all, especially his daughter and grandchildren, who were a source of great joy in his life.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Retha Gayle Johnson, as well as his parents, Carl and Helen Johnson. Their memories remain a treasured part of his story.
