Robert Joseph Schell passed away June 8, 2024 at the age of 87. He was a devoted husband of 59 years to Patricia (nee Rhoten), loving father to Karen (Jack) Ankenbauer, Linda (Perry) Como and David (Holly) Schell, grandfather to Claudia, Elliot, Emma, Mallory, Keenan and Rowan; had many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Lillian Schell, brother Alan Schell, granddaughter Avery Schell, brothers-in-law Charles Rhoten, Roy Rhoten and William Koewler, sisters-in-law Marilyn (Rhoten) Martin and Shirley (Dunn) Rhoten.
Bob grew up in College Hill and attended Roger Bacon High School where he played basketball, baseball, and the saxophone in the school band as well as the band Keynotes. He continued his education and band participation at the University of Cincinnati where he studied business and accounting, furthering his education at Xavier University. Serving in the United States Army was something he was very proud of and of which he shared many stories of his travels. He worked as an auditor and accountant for various businesses before becoming self-employed, including owning several apartment complexes with his brother-in-law Roy.
Some of Bob’s favorite past-times were traveling, watching sports, investing in stocks, and playing sports including ping pong and horseshoes. However, his true passion was golf where he developed relationships with friends and family on the course and occasionally the 19th hole. His passion for travel and golf led him to find his second home in Tellico Village where he spent many nights enjoying Manhattans and beers with his friends and family while taking in the views of the lake.
He was a devoted Catholic and lived his life adhering to the morals and values of his religion. He spent many hours volunteering in many aspects at St. Vivian Church. The most important things to Bob were faith, family and friends. Visitation at St. Vivian Church, 7600 Winton Rd., Cinti, OH 45224 on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be directed to Ohio Living Village Hospice, 11275 Springfield Pike, Cinti, OH 45246 or St. Vivian Church. Condolences at HodappFuneralHome.com
