Rose Brown

May 24, 1929 — August 4, 2025

Rose Brown, a beloved matriarch and vibrant spirit, passed away on August 4, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 96. Born on May 24, 1929, in Quail, Kentucky, Rose graced the world with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

Rose was a proud graduate of Crab Orchard High School, class of 1948, in Lincoln County, Kentucky. Following her education, she dedicated 24 years of her life to Emery Industries, retiring in 1994. Her hard work and commitment were characteristic of the legacy she built, one defined by love, loyalty, and a fierce sense of community.

A faithful member of the St. Bernard Seniors, Rose was known for her delight in Bingo nights and potluck lunches, where her legendary green beans often made an appearance, much to the delight of her family and friends. Rose's love of cooking extended beyond green beans as she poured love into every meal, always serving her family with joy.

In her golden years, Rose found immense satisfaction in life's simple pleasures. She spent many happy hours immersed in the pages of books or mastering word puzzles. Cheerful and supportive, she could often be found cheering on her great-grandsons at their baseball games, embodying the spirit of a cherished Granny who took pride in celebrating every achievement, big or small.

Summer festivals and family cookouts were among the moments she treasured, as was the beauty of nature. Whether it was raking leaves in the fall, the first snowfall of winter, or witnessing the first flowers of spring bloom in her garden, Rose deeply appreciated the changing seasons of life. She delighted in counting birds and visiting them at the bird bath in her yard, especially cardinals, finding joy in their fleeting visits.

Rose enjoyed television game shows, especially The Price is Right, and her laughter echoed through her home during those moments of friendly competition and shared joy. Her involvement in the community and her passion for life radiated through her many friendships, including cherished bonds with Fred Eger, whose family considered her part of his family, and her siblings, Ida Byrd, Nellie Todd, and Brenda Brown.

She is survived by her devoted children, Kathy Finkbeiner and Kelly Brown; loving grandchilden Brielle Maynor (John), and Brenna Crawford (the late John); and great grandchildren Patrick Maynor, Ryan Maynor, Sam Crawford, and Natalie Crawford. Rose will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and all whose lives she touched with her unwavering spirit and affection.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Buford Brown, her devoted son Larry Brown, and her brother Robert Barker, Jr.

While we mourn the loss of Rose Brown, we celebrate her incredible life—a life filled with love, laughter, and an enduring legacy that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew her.
