Russel Bennett Geiger Jr., age 95, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away on Saturday August 15th, 2026.
Born on May 13th, 1931, in Cleveland Ohio, Russ lived a life marked by his large personality, generous heart, and quick wit. Regardless of the situation or audience, Russ was never out of place, he was quick to introduce himself with a handshake and had a special gift of being able to make others feel at ease when in his presence. After graduation from Ohio Wesleyan College, Russ served as a captain in the Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, Russ joined his father Russel Sr. at his men’s clothing store “Geiger’s Men’s Clothing” at Kamm’s Corner in Cleveland Ohio. Russ went on to own and operate “Geiger’s” during which time he met the love of his life Barbara (Towne) Geiger his wife of 40 years. Russ owned and operated “Geiger’s Men’s Clothing” until his retirement in 1996, at which point in time he and Barbara relocated to the city of Scottsdale Arizona where they enjoyed 25+ wonderful years of retirement, travel, and love. In 2025 Russ and Barbara moved back to Cincinnati Ohio to be closer to family. On August 14, 2026, Russ passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 95.
Russel is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughters; Ellen Jordan (Chris), Sue Bitsko (Nick), Wren Geiger (Laura), Michelle Jones (Billy), and Melissa Burdno (Brett). Grandchildren; Nick Bitskp Jr., Deven Burdno (Becky), Connor Burdno (Woneita), Hunter Burdno (Kari), and Mark Weisbarth. Great Grandchildren; Nyles, Bennett, and Brianna. He is preceded in death by his late parents Russell and Ellen Geiger Sr.
Graveside Service and Military Honors will be held at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W Third St, Dayton, OH 45428, on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
