Ruth Schaefer passed away on February 10th 2023 after a battle with pancreatic Cancer. Ruth was born To James and Mabel Norvell January 6th 1940 in Sharonville Ohio. Ruth was predeceased by her siblings, Jim Norvell, Martin Norvell, Scott Norvell and Sharon Hansel. She is survived by her Daughter Rosa (Darrell) Singleton and Son Martin (Nancy) Schaefer, and her Granddaughter Sarah (Andy) Burns-Cope and great granddaughter Ava Burns.
Ruth and Robert married on March 7th 1959, and celebrated close to sixty years of marriage before the passing of her beloved Robert on February 22nd 2019. They spent their first several years living in Hamilton Ohio before moving to their home in Liberty Township where they enjoyed many happy years together. They spent many years turning the turn of the century house into a home. Ruth was known to work alongside Robert in whatever project they were engaged in, and she had the reputation of being quite the gifted worker, it mattered little if she was swinging a hammer, making mortar, laying block and recently most famously being the crazy old lady on the lawnmower, mom was always up for the task.
Ruth also enjoyed many hobbies. She was an artist at heart and her gift for painting china was amazing. She created many intricate and beautiful pieces we still enjoy. Ruth also enjoyed sewing and not only created useful clothing, but countless prom dresses, altered wedding gowns, and of course the multiple “Princess” dresses, quilts and so many other things for a variety of folks. Ruth was also a gifted teacher and would help anyone who asked for help in all of the things she did so well. She worked beside Robert when he would create his wooden pieces and it usually fell to mom to add the “finishing” touches to whatever they were making, including the many unique toy chests and other things they freely gifted to others.
To say Ruth was a tough person would be an understatement, she did it all. Canning, cake decorating, delivering mail, sewing, baking, carpentry, roofing, the list goes on and on, but she also was the person who would be first in line to help someone in need or to donate her time and knowledge to help them. Her love and talents will be greatly missed by those of us remaining.
