Ruth M. Wicktora (née Moening), age 102, passed away on February 7, 2026. She was born on October 3,1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank J. Wicktora.
She is survived by her children: Mary Lynn Schmalz (Richard), Patricia Schulkers (Ken), Mark Wicktora(Laurie), Michael Wicktora (Diane), and Barbara Murphy. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Ruth grew up in the Winton Place neighborhood of Cincinnati and was a graduate of Our Lady of Angels High School. A lifelong sports enthusiast, she was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds. In her early years, she was a member of the Rosie Reds and attended many games.
Ruth and her husband, Frank, were longtime owners of Clifton Hardware, where they proudly served the community for many years. Throughout her life, she was a strong supporter of Roger Bacon High School, where her sons and many of her grandchildren attended.
She loved playing bridge and belonged to several card clubs, enjoying both the game and the friendships it brought. For the past ten years, Ruth resided at Evergreen Retirement Home, where she participated in and enjoyed many of the activities offered.
After 102 years of a vibrant and full life, Ruth passed peacefully to be reunited with her husband in heaven.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 17, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 9375 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Roger Bacon High School, Franciscan Friars and Hospice of Cincinnati.
