Saundra Sue Spinosa (née Unverzagt), born on November 10, 1945, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025. A woman who radiated love and compassion, Sandi was cherished by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
Sandi was the beloved wife of Emilio Spinosa, with whom she shared 59 beautiful years of marriage. They found one another very young, and their love is the core of the family she leaves behind. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Stefan and Christopher. With an unbounded heart and open arms, she welcomed Gorye Chin, David Schwartz, her son-in-law, and Kelly Spinosa, her daughter-in-law, into her family. Sandi was a proud grandmother to Abigail Bengal (Nathan) and Nathan Spinosa (Haley) whom she loved beyond measure.
She is preceded in death by her caretaker, mentor, confidant, and friend Shirley Unverzagt.
A loving sister, Saundra is survived by her brother David Unverzagt and was preceded in death by her siblings Richard Unverzagt, Patricia Unverzagt, and Judith Unverzagt.
Sandi was a caregiver to her core, exuding love and compassion that immediately drew others to her. She had a passion for cooking, and her wide circle of friends knew to always accept a dinner invitation when it was offered. No dog was safe from her need to spoil them with copious pets and extra treats. An avid and loyal Ohio State fan who was convinced her outfit choice had real implications for the likelihood of a win. Most importantly, Sandi was a woman of deep Catholic faith. Her life was a reflection of her call to love and cherish others.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3300 Lebanon St., Monroe, OH 45050, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.
