Sharon K. Strader

Sharon Kellison (Robertson) Strader, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026. A devout Christian, retired schoolteacher, and school counselor, Sharon lived a life marked by faith, service, and love for others. She cherished time spent with family and friends and enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, sewing, yardwork, computer projects, and developing her interest in quilting. She was creative, friendly, caring, warm, encouraging, and true blessing in this world. 

Sharon was born in Springfield, Ohio, and spent her first 23 years in Ohio before moving to Virginia to begin her teaching career. She returned to Ohio in 2019 and spent the remainder of her life in Liberty Township, where she was near her son David Robertson and his family.

Sharon graduated from Southern Local High School in Ohio and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Bob Jones University. She taught grades 1 through 6 in Virginia, serving in both Christian and Pittsylvania County schools for 14 years. After earning her Master’s Degree in Elementary Counseling from Longwood University, she served as guidance counselor at Kentuck Elementary for 20 years. Throughout her career Sharon served or led various Committees and Programs and taught in after-school tutoring and summer school programs including 9 years as an adult education teacher. Following her retirement, she continued serving students as a substitute teacher for another 7 years.Though she retired from education, she never stopped being a teacher and never stopped serving others.

Sharon was steadfast in serving the Lord and remained active in church throughout her life. In Virginia, she was a longtime member of Ringgold Baptist Church, where she served in various roles and committees and was active in the J.O.Y. Club and the W.M.U. through the Lottie Moon and Eva Walton Circles. After moving back to Ohio, she became a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Liberty Township, where she was active in her Sunday School class, W.O.M., Ladies Book Club, and Prayer Group.

In her retirement years she completed two bucket-list experiences that were dear to her heart: taking a wonderful trip to Hawaii with Tommy and writing a children’s chapter book, Ponderello Pond, for her granddaughter Stella, which she presented to Stella on her fifth birthday.

A devoted mother and grandmother and loyal friend, Sharon will be remembered for her selflessness, love, kindness, and unwavering support of those around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Tommy” Strader, Jr., and her parents, George and Margaret Kellison.

She is survived by her son, David Robertson (Jennifer), and granddaughter, Stella; her brother, Terry Kellison (Tonyea); nieces and nephews, Shannon Clunen (Rob), Ryan Kellison (Emily), and Timothy Kellison (Rosemary); great-nieces and great-nephews, Tessa and Trenton Clunen, Leila, Isaiah and Nathanial Kellison, and Felix and Ozzie Kellison; stepdaughters, Teresa Herndon (Ron) and Cindy Stevens; step-grandchildren, Nichola, Kayla and Noah Herndon and Joshua Stevens (Josie); and step-great-grandchildren, River and Autumn Stevens.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visitation and the service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church, 6049 Yankee Road, Liberty Township, Ohio 45011. Burial will be conducted in a private family ceremony at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church general fund in Ohio or to the Ringgold Baptist Church Misty Adkins Scholarship Fund in Virginia.
