Sister Mary Louise Burt, (formerly Sr. Mary Everett), a Sister of Mercy for 76 years, died peacefully at McAuley Convent, Cincinnati, OH on October 14, 2026 at the age of 93, following a long decline.

She taught at Our Lady of Mercy Academy, St. Athanasius, Holy Cross, and St. Polycarp in Louisville, KY; St. John the Evangelist School in Paducah, KY; and Holy Family in Columbus, OH. However, she spent most of her teaching and principalship years (1976-1998) at St. Aloysius School on Payne Street in Louisville. Her dedication to ministry, her love of Bingo, and her lovely voice and skill in writing parodies (often with her sibling, Sr. M. Corinne) are some of the many things that brought joy to others.

One of nine children, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Norma Cline, Joseph E., Robert E., Patrick L., Louis E. Jr., William E., and Charles R Burt. She is survived by Sister Mary Corinne Burt, RSM.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 19 at 6:00 pm at McAuley Convent, Cincinnati, OH with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, KY on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 1:00 pm.
