Sister Miriam Bulcak (Rose Mary Bulcak) 98 years old, passed quietly into the heart of God on October 22, 2026. She was one of six children born to the late Joseph and Mary McGunn Bulcak of Flint, Michigan. Her contact with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor occurred in her hometown of Flint, when as a young girl she observed the goodness of the Sisters in meeting the needs of others with a cheerful spirit. The witness of the Sisters led her to discern a call to religious life. Upon completion of high school in 1946 she joined the Congregation. After her formation as a new member, she was sent to the University of Dayton to receive a bachelor’s in science in Business Administration. Good at organization and attentive to detail, her gifts were put to good use in Administration and ministry in the business office. She served in several Congregational sponsored hospitals in Covington, Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus over a few decades. In her later years of active ministry, she became a member of a Pastoral Care team in Columbus. In more recent years, Sr. Miriam offered her daily prayer and presence to others who encircled her life. Blessed with a good mind, you could count on Sr. Miriam to offer you her viewpoint on just about any topic. 2026 was Sr. Miriam’s 80 th Jubilee year. She was deeply thankful for her Call to religious life and sharing life with so many incredible women of God. She is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, her dear sister Monica, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her Wake will be on Friday, October 30 th at 10:15am at St. Clare Chapel 60 Compton Road, followed by the Liturgy of Resurrection at 11am.
