BOLSER, Sr. Dorothy Ann, SFP Sister Dorothy Ann Bolser SFP (Sister Carolita) 93, passed into the heart of God on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was one of nine children, born to the late Jacob and Elizabeth Fisher Bolser on June 30, 1932, in Hamilton, Ohio. Sr. Dorothy Ann held many cherished childhood memories.
Sr. Dorothy Ann entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in 1948 as an Aspirant in high school. After completing her formation, she ministered in a variety of needful positions in the convent and hospitals. In 1964, she completed her studies as a Licensed Practical Nurse and found herself ministering in hospitals and long-term care facilities for almost twenty-five years.
In midlife, Sr. Dorothy Ann shifted her interest from nursing to spirituality and became a Certified Chaplain where she used her gifts to minister predominately to the elderly.
Always holding a strong bond to her family and graced with the skills to provide loving care, Sr. Dorothy Ann provided home care to her parents in their wisdom years.
Sr. Dorothy Ann incorporated volunteer opportunities over the years, including being an organist at a nursing facility and later working at St. John Social Service Center.
In more recent years, Sr. Dorothy Ann devoted herself to being athirst for God, which was evident by her attention to the spiritual journey through actively participating in offerings while keeping abreast on world and Church events. She strove to live her faith in words and deeds.
Despite compromised health for many years, Sr. Dorothy Ann held to the belief that “God is always with us, in ALL ways, in the darkness and the light.”
Sr. Dorothy Ann leaves behind her fellow Sisters, the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, her dear sister Verna McDulin, many devoted nieces and nephews and their families, along with friends.
The Wake and Visitation will occur on Wednesday, September 3 at 9am in St. Clare Chapel followed by the Liturgy of Resurrection at 10am.
