Sr. Marie Heitkamp, S.F.P.

HEITKAMP, Sr. Marie, S.F.P., age 84, entered into eternal life on September 17, 2009, at Mercy Franciscan Terrace. Sister was a native of Dayton, OH, and a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor for 68 years. She served the poor as a mendicant, begging for the needs of the poor in Hamilton, Steubenville and Cincinnati, OH, and as a psychologist in the public schools in Detroit, MI. Other ministries included the Movement for a Better World retreats, vocation ministry and pastoral care. In her later years she lived as a contemplative. Sister is survived by her sister Dorothy Motsch of Dayton, niece Judy Spagnoli of Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held in the Chapel of St. Clare Convent, 60 Compton Rd., Hartwell, Tuesday, September 29, 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Mercy Franciscan Terrace.
