Steven Dufek

April 12, 1960 — November 17, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Dufek, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on November 17, 2025, in his home in West Chester, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 12, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Steve's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a relentless spirit that touched everyone he knew.

Steve's distinguished career spanned nearly 25 years with the Retirement Corporation of America, where he served as a Senior Trading Manager. His incredible work ethic was matched only by the passion he held for the people he worked alongside. Even during his courageous battle with cancer, through chemotherapy and beyond, Steve continued to embody tenacity and grace, working from home, a testament to his unwavering dedication.

Steve's greatest accomplishments came in the form of family. He profoundly valued his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Mary Dufek (Spears), providing a nurturing home that empowered her to be a devoted stay-at-home mom. His legacy rests not just in his successful career but in the strong bonds he created with those around him, the love he spread, and the happiness he fostered.

A devoted family man, Steve took great pride in his five children. He created a home filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those he loved most. As a proud grandfather, Steve delighted in each moment spent with his grandchildren.

Those who knew Steve will fondly remember his generous spirit and infectious sense of humor. He found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was surprising his children and their friends with McMuffins early in the morning or introducing everyone to the unique melodies of music, shows, and movies he adored. Steve had a rare ability to connect with people instantly, making lasting impressions through his friendly and outgoing personality.

As we gather to celebrate his life, we will remember a man whose positive attitude and sense of humor remained undiminished through the trials he faced. His departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but the love he instilled in his family will endure, reminding us to cherish every moment shared. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his children and their spouses, Katherine, Kimberly, Donald (Hannah), Gregory (Sarah), and Sally (Max Fogle); his grandchildren, Annabelle, Alexander, Emily, Madeline, and Lillian; his mother, Mary Lou Dufek; his siblings, Michael Dufek (Roberta), Susan Mildenstein (Steve), and Connie Hosbrook (Dan); and his dear friend, Steve Rice. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald F. Dufek.

In honoring the life of Steven Dufek, we find inspiration in his incredible journey, reminding us to laugh a little louder, love a little deeper, and always hold family and friends close to our hearts.
