Sue Anne Ward, a woman of enduring grace and unwavering devotion, passed away on May 14, 2026, in Liberty Township, Ohio. Born on September 23, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Sue's life was a testament to resilience, love, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge and adventure. Her journey began as the eldest of three children, raised in Long Island, New York, where she nurtured a brilliant mind and a remarkable vocabulary, often delighting in reading the dictionary simply for pleasure.

Sue’s professional life was marked by versatility and dedication. Throughout her varied career, Sue exemplified diligence, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Sue’s spirit was as expansive as her career. She was a fervent traveler whose sense of direction was famously wayward, leading to numerous family anecdotes of calls asking for her whereabouts—often ending in discovery of another gravel pit. Whether on road trips with her daughter and grandchildren or aboard serene ocean cruises, where she found her deepest relaxation, Sue embraced life with joyous enthusiasm. Her profound love for the ocean, where waves and salty air offered solace, reflected her soulful nature.
Beyond her wanderlust, Sue was a woman of deep faith and high standards. She upheld a code of honor and class, always advocating doing the right thing. Her loyalty and empathy were the cornerstones of her character; she welcomed others with open arms and loved fiercely. Her infectious laughter and quick wit illuminated every room she entered, painting memories of lightness and joy. One such cherished memory recalls a bath overflowing with bubbles, laughter so abundant she could scarcely summon aid, exemplifying her playful and adventurous spirit.

At the heart of Sue’s life were her beloved family—to whom she devoted herself entirely. She was the cherished wife of John Ward, steadfast partner through life’s seasons. The pride of her heart resided in her four children—Frederick Monroig, Michael Monroig (and his wife Lily), Robert Ward, and Melissa Jergenson (and her husband Jeff)—each having carved their own paths with distinction. Sue delighted in the laughter and presence of her many grandchildren: Destiny Medina, Elisa Monroig, McKenzie Ward, Ashley Monroig, Alana Jergenson, Robert Ward Jr., Bryce Jergenson, Madison Ward, Chris Monroig, Liam Jergenson, and Jeffrey Jergenson II. Sue was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren: Catalina McGinnis,
Gabriel McGinnis, River Carrion, and Arys Ward. Family holidays and birthdays were celebrated with grand fanfare, each event conducted with care to ensure every soul felt honored and loved.

Sue's familial legacy also includes her sisters, Debbie Williams and Julie Dunaway, who survive her, three her nieces and two nephews, as does a constellation of family and friends whose lives she touched profoundly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ada and George Williams, whose memory she carried forward with grace.

Sue’s indelible impact was passionately felt by all who knew her—a beacon of love, laughter, and relentless optimism. Her “23 club,” a whimsical family tradition anchoring birthdays to the 23rd day, is a testament to her enduring influence on those she held dear.

In reflecting on Sue Anne Ward’s remarkable life, one recognizes a woman whose boundless heart and spirited soul enriched the world around her. She lived not simply for herself but for the joy and well-being of her family and friends. Her legacy endures in every shared laugh, every road trip adventure, every lovingly prepared meal, and every moment of heartfelt connection. Though she has departed this earthly plane, the echo of her love and laughter will forever resonate in the hearts of those she left behind.
