Timothy "Tim" McCoy, born on September 16, 1944, in Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in West Chester, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tim was a man of many talents, cherished for his remarkable ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures and his support for those he loved.
Tim was an accomplished carpenter, whose talent ranged from small woodworking to huge skyscrapers. His proudest accomplishment included working on the iconic Sears Tower in Chicago, a testament to his skill and dedication. Beyond his professional pursuits, he was an Air Force Veteran, which demonstrated his commitment to service and duty.
A man of humor and warmth, Tim touched the hearts of many with his funny demeanor and generous spirit. He had a knack for making people laugh, whether it was through entertaining his grandchildren with magic tricks, jokes, or organizing games at his children's birthday parties. His kids have fond memories of summer days spent at Big Fish Lake, and camping under the stars. He also enjoyed the quiet moments of gardening, cooking and working in his basement wood shop.
Most of all, Tim found peace and wonder in nature, often spending weekends fishing or exploring the great outdoors with his family. His creativity shined in his woodworking skills, as he lovingly crafted toys, benches, and instruments, all of which his grandchildren will forever treasure. He also introduced them to the joys of archery, fishing contests, and visits to the museum center and bookstores, instilling in them a sense of adventure and appreciation for life.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda McCoy; son David McCoy and daughter-in-law Rachel McCoy; daughter Julie McCoy Poore and son-in-law Jamie Poore; daughter Brianne Prince and son-in-law David Prince; and his cherished grandchildren: Luke, Jonah, Andrew, Chloe, Trent, Foster, DJ, Jack, and Aidan, his sister Pamela and brother Tony. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories, remembered fondly by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris McCoy and Patrick McCoy, who watched over him with pride. Tim's spirit will forever remain alive in the stories passed down through family gatherings and the traditions he instilled in each generation.
As we remember Tim, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of laughter, service, and unwavering love for family.
