William Dean Gregory

William “Dean” Gregory, a loving husband, father, and proud U.S. Navy veteran, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99. Dean was born on August 22, 1926, in Wilmington, Ohio. Throughout his life, he carried immense pride in his service in the United States Navy, a commitment that defined much of his character and values.

Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Louise, his parents, Bessie and Charlie Malone, and his son, William “Bill” Hopper. His legacy continues through his surviving family, which includes his son, Jerry Hopper (and his wife, Francie), his daughter, Vicki Luncan (and her husband, Nelson), and his daughter, Debbie Stidham (and her husband, Kenny). Dean also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a multitude of extended generations, nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.

Known for his vibrant spirit, Dean cherished his winter months at the Fountain View Resort in Fort Myers, Florida, where he created lasting memories. He was a staple in his community, often organizing events and sharing his joy of music at gatherings. Dean particularly found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, spending time at Brookville Resort where he enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing amidst the tranquil outdoors that he loved.

Dean’s appreciation for nature and animals was evident throughout his life. He embraced the beauty around him, fostering a sense of peace and connection with the world.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dean's life on November 24, 2025, with a visitation from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Both events will take place at Hodapp Funeral Homes located at 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd., West Chester, OH. The day will conclude with a burial at Brookside Cemetery, starting at 1:00 PM, at 6425 West Chester Rd., West Chester, OH.

Dean will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his zest for life. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know and love him.
