William Shebetka

October 5, 1964 — December 16, 2023

William “Bill” Shebetka, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away on December 16 after a courageous battle against ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia). He was 59 years young.

Bill was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a 1983 graduate of Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids, IA and continued on to earn a BSE in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa. Bill was a diehard and lifelong fan on the Hawkeyes even while residing in Georgia and Ohio.

There was nothing Bill enjoyed more than spending time with family. He will be dearly missed by his survivors including: his wife of 22 years, Kelley (Davis) Shebetka of West Chester, Ohio; his 2 sons Bohdan (“Bo”) and Kale, also of West Chester, Ohio; two brothers – Steve (Lori) and Jim (Jodie) Shebetka of Fairfax, IA and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gene and Mary Lou Shebetka, as well as two sisters – Anne Anderson and Sue Hill and a niece - Melissa Anderson. Hopefully these family members were there to greet Bill and ease his transition.

A visitation for condolences for Bill and his family will be held on Thursday, December 28 from 6 – 8 PM at Hodapp Funeral Home in West Chester. Services for Bill will take place in January in Iowa where his final resting place will be.

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia) are brutal diseases with no known cure. Every 90 Minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS. The disease takes away the ability to walk, talk, laugh, hug, breathe. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating, in Bill’s name, to one of the following nonprofit organizations: The ALS Association, ALS United of Central and Southern Ohio, or AFTD – The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.

In memory of William Shebetka, please consider making a donation to one of the following charities:
