Anna L. Sippel

January 3, 1910 — February 7, 2012

SIPPEL, Anna Louise (nee Marchmann). Ann Sippel passed on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the age of 102. She was the devoted wife of the late Fred Sippel; loving mother of Ted (Susan), David (Vira), and Richard (Nancy); proud grandmother of Timothy (Armi), Stephen (Traci) and Bogdan Korolyuk; doting great-grandmother of Morgan, Maia, Elijah, Lydia, and Isaiah; aunt of William Marchmann and the late Peter Marchmann; and sister of the late Charles Marchmann. Ann was born on January 3, 1910 in Madisonville, OH. She graduated from Withrow High School in 1928 and went on to become the first female employee of American Airlines. She lived in Madeira for 57 years, during which she was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Silverton and a dedicated volunteer and member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. For the past 12 years, Ann was a resident of Llanfair Retirement Community in College Hill, where she enjoyed shuffleboard and chair volleyball, and participated in the bell and kazoo choirs. She became a dear friend to many residents and staff. Throughout her life, Ann sought to share the love of God with those in her midst. She had a sense of wonder about the world around her, loved to interact with others, and always enjoyed sharing a good laugh. Both in times of joy and times of trials, Ann had a twinkle in her eye—and a confidence that in the end the Lord would take care of her. Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, February 11th at 11AM at the Margaret Jean Wells Chapel at Llanfair Retirement Community, 1701 Llanfair Avenue in College Hill. Memorials may be sent to Llanfair Retirement Center.
