Barb was a wonderful teacher as well as a outstanding human being. I was an aquaintance of Barb's through school teacher conventions, etc. We reconnected when I joined St. Bartholomew's Parish years ago.

Barb was truly a "teacher's teacher" as she set the bar of excellence for everyone. Loved her as my teacher, and enjoyed her company as an adult. She made the difference in many lives, and is why I loved science and became a teacher. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Barb was an incredible teacher. She treated us as young adults and was always in control of the class without ever having to raise her voice. Over 40 years later, I still remember many things she taught. We also asked her many times to drive us to our after school sporting events. After she retired, she became the President of the St. Vincent De Paul conference at St. Boniface and helped hundreds of needy people in Northside. So many will miss her terribly.

She was the best teacher I ever had. Her peerless teaching was one of the main reasons I wanted to become, and did become, a scientist. Her passing is a great loss, but her memory will always be a blessing to her students.

Barb taught our two children at St. Boniface, both loved her as a teacher. Although I had met her as a teacher, when she took over St. Vincent de Paul we worked together while she learned the system. If there is a saint in the making, it's Barb.

My Mom, Jeanette Schinaman, always spoke warmly of Barb Luken. She knew her from St. Boniface School where myself and my siblings went along with some of my nephews and niece and my Mom worked for many years. May God Bless her family and friends with peace and happy memories.
