Benjamin J. Reidy

January 4, 1952 — April 23, 2021

On April 23rd, 2021, Benjamin (Ben) J Reidy, Jr passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Ben was born on January 4th, 1952 in Cincinnati, OH to Ben Reidy, Sr and Laverne (Bush) Reidy. After graduating from Western Hills High School in 1969, he served in the Air Force for 4 years. During his time in the Air Force, he served in glamorous locations like Champaign, Illinois and Shemya, Alaska, a barren wasteland at the edge of the world.

Ben was known by his friends and family for his quick wit, rye sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone who needed it. If you texted him for help, his response would be 😎 … ”cool”. Any time you did a favor for him, you were almost certain to be told “You are gentleman and a scholar.” If it was a big favor, he might even add “exceeded only by your good looks and outstanding personality.”

Ben was retired after a long career as a Service Technician for Xerox. He filled his days doing the things he loved most; hiking, fishing, kayaking, traveling, riding roller coasters, and spending time with friends and family. Most summers were spent taking his grandchildren to his favorite hiking spots, canoeing on the Little Miami River, or, everyone’s favorite, King’s Island to ride Diamond Back. Every January, you could count on him being out of town traveling to warm, exotic locales like Costa Rica, Curacao, or Jamaica.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tom Reidy. He is survived by his 2 beloved children, Jenny (Dave) and Matt (Cathy), his dear sister Chris, and 6 cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Kayla, Adam, Sammie, Megan, & Conner. Memorial services will be held privately with a celebration of Ben’s life to follow this  summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cincinnati VA Medical Center (https://www.cincinnati.va.gov/features/E_Donate_Is_Simple_Speedy_Safe.asp) or The Fisher House (https://fisherhouse.org/ways-to-give/).
