Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
For nothing gold can stay.
— Robert Frost, 1923

The last several times I saw Carl were times when he was with his family. The love and great pride he had for every one of you, and the joy that radiated on his face as he talked, danced or just watched all of you are what I will always remember best. You were all well loved.
