Charles William “Cookie” Brinkman

Miami, FL - Charles W. "Cookie" Brinkman passed away peacefully on October 24, 2019 at age 70. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Amy Dalli, a daughter Melissa Sherline and her children (Kyle, Julia & Erica), a son Charles "Chip" (Beth) and their sons (Robert Henry “Bo”& Banks ").  Beloved brother of Gerard "Rusty" (Linda) Brinkman, Joe Brinkman, and Jim (Dianne) Brinkman and also survived by many cousins, nieces & nephews and friends.  Cookie was born in Cincinnati, OH to the late Helen and Joseph Brinkman

He was an exceptional athlete earning all-city in football while attending Roger Bacon High School where he is a member of its Athletic Hall of Fame. As a result, he received a scholarship to the University of Louisville (coached by Lee Corso) and was team captain playing tight end and was the team’s punter.  Cookie caught the tying touchdown pass in the 1970 Pasadena Bowl (Jr. Rose Bowl) and he still holds records at U of L today (such as an 89-yd punt).  He was signed as a free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals and then acquired by the Cleveland Browns. His final years in the NFL were with the Buffalo Bills. From the playing field to the corporate world, Cookie's personality, intelligence and discipline resulted in him moving up through the ranks at Alcoa to   his final position as VP of Sales of Aluminum Products.

Not being satisfied with the idle mode of retirement, he eagerly supported his wife as VP of Marketing for her John Casablancas MTM Agency in Miami, FL. Cookie loved learning a new exciting industry and absorbing the energy of the youth, in addition to the rewards of making a positive impact on people's lives (all ages).

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St Patrick's Catholic Church on November 9, 2019 in Miami, FL. A wake celebrating the amazing man he will always be was held on Sunday, November 10, 2019. The wake took place at the NFL Alumni South FL Chapter in Miami, FL.

A public celebration of life is being held in Cincinnati on Sunday, November 17, 2019, from 1-5pm, at the City of St Bernard's Civic Center (Lower Hall) located at 110 Washington Ave. A formal ceremony will begin at 2pm. Please RSVP via text to Chip @ (704) 345-2332.
