Leave a message of condolence

Dr. Ellen Kay Heinrichs Norby, MD. Devoted wife and beloved mother. Passed peacefully on Monday, October 18, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife of 36 years to Conrad Norby. The two were soul mates, and best friends. She was a loving, caring mother to their three children, Erin Lux, Michael Norby, and Adam Norby, as well as to her son-in-law, Jarrod Lux, and her daughter-in-law, Juliana (neé Nonay) Norby. The fifth of seven children, daughter of Marvin and Maxine Heinrichs. She received her medical doctorate from the University of Minnesota in 1987. Ellen happily devoted her life to pediatrics. For over thirty years, she tirelessly worked with Queen City Physicians to make sure the lives of her young patients carried on in happiness and health during many of the most important periods in their early lives. Ellen was a caretaker, a role she adopted both in and out of her line of work. She will be remembered for her intelligence, her selflessness, and her endless devotion to love, always putting others before herself, regardless of her own well-being. To the very end, even as she privately battled stage four cancer, she happily continued to work, still considering her young patients’ health and wellbeing to be of prime importance. She was the strongest woman anyone who knew her will ever know. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, baking, and music. She was greatly loved by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati Dayton Rd, Liberty Twp., on Thursday, October 21 from 5pm – 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 5720 Hamilton Mason Rd., Liberty Twp., on Friday, October 22 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Condolences

Our hearts are aching. Our condolences to the Norby family. Cailee and I just found out about our friend whom we LOVED so very much! Cailee is currently sick and I brought her from Nashville back to Cincy to see Dr. Norby only to find out she is no longer with us. Words cannot express how we feel about Dr. Norby. She was simply the BEST. She not only took care of our children but also encouraged the parents in all stages of the children's lives. Man, I'm speechless. I thank God for putting her into our lives for the last 18 years. Rest in Heaven, Dr. Norby. We are forever grateful for all that you have poured into our lives. All the nuggets you have given...like once you have been playing outside you need to take a shower/wash your face and blow your nose, to get the pollen out of your nose hair. We love you and miss you dearly.

We just heard about Dr. Norby's passing and wanted to send our love and prayers to her family. She has been caring for our three children since our oldest was born in 2003, and she has always given the best care and the best mom advice--from one more-experienced mom to another. She also was so incredibly kind and supportive when I battled cancer a few years after she did for the first time. I will never forget her compassion. We are so grateful for her presence in our lives and will greatly miss her. Sending prayers to her whole family.

Dr. Norby was one of the most trusted and loved people in our lives. As first time parents nearly 18 years ago, she immediately put us at ease, always giving her “Dr. Norby” prognosis along with “Mom Norby” advice. She always had a smile and cheery “Love Bug” greeting for our kids when they were little, and created such an inviting atmosphere that they never complained about going to the doctor. She was an amazing doctor, woman and human. Thank you to her family for sharing her with us all these years. Our hearts break for you and we send prayers to all who knew and loved her. - Denise, Roger, Makena and Ian

This is heartbreaking to our family! I’m so deeply saddened by the loss of this incredible woman whom I have had the privilege of knowing almost 20 years now . Not only was she an incredible doctor to my children but she was an amazing friend and teacherto so many of us . The one thing everyone knows about her was how much she adored her children and her husband ! I always appreciated that she offered you “ mom” advice along with her profession opinion when you saw her in the office and having that was priceless information and laid back style made me feel so much comfort when I was a new mom . My prayers are with her beautiful family bc we have all lost an incredible, valued friend who made a significant difference in our community and was someone who is we were all better off having known her ! As for her children and husband the loss is so profound I know nothing else to offer or say to make losing this angel on earth but to say how extremely sorry we all are and to send prayers . With deep sympathy, David Kristi, Gracie, and Griffin Fisher

We are truly going to miss Dr.Norby. we are heartbroken when we heard the news. ..She has been seeing our son for the passed 7 years and welcomed him with loving arms at 3 weeks old. He was on oxygen and diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at birth but she never treated him any different. She advocated for him, she loved him, she guided us and was always there if we needed her.. You rarely find a person, doctor like Dr. Norby. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her whole family. She was truly loved by so many

Ellen Norby will be sorely missed by our family. You treated my children like children and not patients. You involved the children and talked to them and not around them. Your level of care and respect was so appreciated by my children. We love you and will cherish your memory. Our hearts and prayers go out to your family. 💕🙏🏻

Dr Norby was our pediatrician for 25 years. She was a loved part of my parenting resource team. Her input was so valuable and will be irreplaceable. I could bring anything to her about my 4 kiddos and fully trust her opinion, her diagnosis and her ability to know each of them as individuals. My children adored her. I heard many stories of all of you over the years and I know her family was her greatest joy! Sending healing prayers to all of you. I am so sorry for your loss.

When the loss of your children's pediatrician stirs emotions no different than losing a family member, you know their calling in life was meant to be. Dr. Norby was not only a wonderful physician, but she was also wonderful person. She was no-nonsense, but in the most calming and caring way, and my children adored her. Any time my son gets hurt, he wants to go see Dr. Norby. It speaks volumes that she has touched the lives of so many families for so many years. She will be greatly missed. Dr Norby was a fantastic doctor to my 3 year old twins. They never feared going to the doctor and even played “Dr Norby.” As a mother, I was always impressed with how much she cared about my children and also me as a first time mom. We always enjoyed her love bug greetings and the antidotes she shared about raising her own children. Her family and friends are in our prayers.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Dr. Norby was such a special soul. My first child began seeing her 27 years ago and almost exactly one year ago she began seeing her baby. I can still hear Dr. Norby's voice calling my children by name. My youngest son was never a hugger, he only let me and my mom hug him without complaining, but every time we went to see Dr. Norby he would go straight to her office to hug her. She just had a special way to make the kids feel loved and parents feel supported. She will be greatly missed. Know that our family is praying for your family.

I am very sorry for your loss. Dr Norby was my children’s pediatrician years ago, I had 5 children, 2 sets of twins and my children were not big fans of going to any doctor but she helped ease my kids fears and always took extra time to explain procedures or or appointment we were having. She also always checked on me to make sure I was getting Mommy time. She always spoke so highly of her family and her children. She will definitely be missed by so many . I pray for your family as you go thru this time.
