Joan Elizabeth Murphy, died peacefully at the age of 88 on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 12:29 p.m. in her home with her children by her side. Mom devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Joan was born July 7, 1931, in Cincinnati to Charles and Helen Schoenlaub. Joan enjoyed spending summers poolside on Silverhedge Dr, the home she and Don built for the family in 1966. Joan was an active member of St. Bartholomew parish. Joan deeply valued her independence and was a busy lady right up to the time she fell ill. Some of her hobbies and interests include: playing poker, bridge and shanghai with her sister Carol, family and friends, numerous St. Bart’s bus trips, the widows and widowers club at St. Bart’s, weekly exercise class with her niece Ellen, weddings and graduations visiting our National Parks, and she loved her trips to Disney World! Joan enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Last but not least, right up until she fell ill she was found attending her grandchildren's birthday parties. 


Joan is the beloved wife of the late Donald John Murphy. Loving mother of Mike (SuzanneThamann) Murphy, Mark Murphy, Ed Murphy, Kim (Si) Rose, Jeff (Amy) Murphy, Lori Murphy Meredith and Tina (Tom) Lamb. Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Sister of JackSchoenlaub and Carol Zins. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4th from 5-7 PM at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Avenue, College Hill, 45224followed by Mass of ChristianBurial at St. Bartholomew Church, 9375 Winton Road, 45231 on Friday, June 5th at 10 AMPlease wear “Pink” it was Joan’s favorite color. One of Joan’s final wishes was to have a proper funeral which would be followed by a family party.
