Joan Marie Walcher

CINCINNATI, OHIO - Joan Marie Walcher, age 87, went home to the Lord on April 4, 2020. Joan passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in her Deerfield Township home of 58 years. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Sam Walcher. Loving mother of Gary (Karen) Walcher and Glen (Rosalinda) Walcher. Cherished grandmother of Kurt, Luke and Austin Walcher. Dear sister of Mary (Joe) DeFilippe and brother Harry Mowbray. In addition, Joan left behind many cherished friends.
Joan was born in Manhattan, New York City on January 29, 1933. She was raised by her grandmother, Grace Cleary, in a 4 th floor apartment of a Bronx walk-up building, a few blocks from the original New York Yankees stadium. A lifelong devout Catholic, Joan attended Catholic schools, and was a long-time member of Good Shepherd parish. Joan was a Kindergarten Teacher’s Aide for 21 years at Stewart School in the Princeton City School District, while always remaining the preeminent home maker and neighborhood Mom.
Known for her caring and kindness, Joan’s greatest joy and life’s devotion were to her family and friends. Joan was a friend to many, and respected by all.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family. A celebration of Joan’s life will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
