ROMER Joanne M. (nee Meister), 78, of Cincinnati, OH died July 3, 2009. Mrs. Romer was born September 23, 1930 in Cincinnati, daughter of the late John and Susanna Meister. She was the beloved wife of Clement T. (Ted) Romer, Jr., devoted mother of C. Ted Romer, III, Susan Ellen, and John A. (Sulyn) Romer, the dear grandmother of Jack and Jacob Romer, and the sister of Ruth Thompson, Marion Rost and John Meister. In addition to her parents, a sister, Pauline Fanning, preceded her in death. Joanne graduated from St. Mary High School in Cincinnati and obtained her bachelor’s degree in child development from the University of Cincinnati. After raising her children, she returned to school and obtained her Master’s Degree in Montessori Education from Xavier University in 1984. After graduating, she taught at the Discovery Center in West Chester until she retired in 2000. Her life long pursuits in gardening and sewing brought much joy, and she was very active in prayer groups and the church throughout her life. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, July 8 at St. Susanna Church, 616 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio, 45040. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 am to 1 pm at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.
To Joanne’s Family: You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Joanne was our children’s kindergarten teacher at the Discovery Center 10 years ago. She was truely a special person and enriched many young lives throughout her teaching career. She will be greatly missed.
My prayers are with you and your family in this your time of sadness. Celebrate who and what your mother was, as a way of honoring her.
