June Bowen

June 8, 1929 — December 22, 2021

June Alice Bowen, beloved aunt to Charlene Morris (Larry), Stephen Bowen (late Jan), Bonnie Capo (Joseph), Russell Bowen (Angie), Vanessa Williams (late David), late Tracy Bowen, Mark Bowen, Keith Bowen (Debbi), Jan Reeder (Larry) and John Bowen. June was also a great-aunt, great great-aunt and great great great-aunt to many nieces, nephews and friends.

June is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nettie Bowen and her brothers Earl (Norma), Robert (Barbara) and Murray (Nancy).

June went to school and graduated from Mason High School where she was a member of the band and played clarinet. June went to Business school and got a job in a jewelry store in Cincinnati and worked a short time downtown.

June was raised on a farm on Mason-Montgomery Rd. where she lived for 60 years before moving in with her brother after her mother’s death. Her duties on the farm were to take care of her chickens, gather, clean and sell the eggs while her brothers took care of the crops and livestock. All of the nieces and nephews couldn’t wait to visit grandma and aunt June on the farm. It was a special time for playing in the woods, swimming in the creek, helping with the animals and when we stayed all night the root beer floats were the best. Aunt June had such a love of children and pets.

June was her daddy’s girl and loved going on vacations with her dad and mom. Her favorite vacation with her parents was going out west. June loved to travel whether it was going to the lake house or her favorite going to Florida every winter with her brother Earl and Norma. She looked forward to seeing her Florida friends and kept in touch when she was back in Ohio. She loved writing letters and calling people she missed and keeping them informed on what was happening to those she cared about.

In my later years I realized that my Aunt June had a wonderful sense of humor and you just couldn’t help to laugh at the things she would say.

June was a life member of the Sycamore Presbyterian Church and Bethany Church also became a favorite of hers with Pastor Bowdle visiting the family often.

June gave generously to all charities especially the SPCA on Conrey Rd. in Cincinnati.

June passed away at the age of 93.

Our Aunt June will be missed by all.

A private family service has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, 11900 Conrey Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45249.
