LaVerne Eileen Shannon, age 95, formerly of Irwin, Ohio and Liberty Township in Butler County, passed away Sunday morning January 10, 2021 at Bickford of Middletown.  She was born July 20, 1925 to the late Russell and Stella Stewart.  On February 5, 1946 she married her husband, Jack (deceased in 2015) at her family home.  She and Jack began their farming career in Liberty Township and moved the family farm to Irwin in 1974.

LaVerne is survived by her children; Gary (Diane) Shannon and Steven (Kimberly) Shannon both of Irwin, Elaine (Michael) Kuth of Monroe; siblings Kenneth Stewart and Roger (Lila) Stewart as well as 10 grandchildren: Holly Shannon, Michael (Christine) Shannon, Debra (Marcus) Kingery, Melissa (Nick Gully) Shannon, Ashley (Michael) Burke, Julie (Mark) Akers, Susan (Brandon) Bentley, Joshua Kuth, Bryon (Stephanie) Kuth, Emily (John) Kirby;  17 great grandchildren: Lindsey and Kinley Shannon,  Ella, Evan and Alexander Kingery, Grace and Stella Burke,  Logan and Reeve Akers, Kayla and Brady Bentley, Johnny, Kalyssa and Kassidy Kirby, Caleb, Simon and Camille Kuth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

LaVerne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved gardening and playing golf.  She was also a longtime member of Farm Bureau, Rosedale Harmony Club, The King’s Daughters, and an active member of the Milford Center United Methodist Church with her husband.

Private services will be held for immediate family only at Hodapp Funeral Home in Liberty Twp. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 with Reverend Harbarger officiating. Graveside burial services will follow for the family at Springhill Cemetery. COVID protocols will be practiced.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Milford Center United Methodist Church, 55 E State St, Milford Center, OH 43045.
